Daily Deviation

Given 2011-06-03
When you face an artwork as strong and crude as deformations by `lolita-art you really need to stop for a second and think about the topic. Impressive. (Also suggested by ~Cauthorn and ~disorder-city) ( Suggested by Princesse-de-la-Lune and Featured by Atramina )

Not even animals subject others to such brutality. This is NOT necessity. Thank you for expressing this human travesty, sis. Kirk & Kiki

I know other countries have archaic and completely despicable 'justice' systems. For anyone who has the time to type it, I would appreciate a small paragraph of the religious factions connected to these actions against women. I am christian, and I want to understand and respect others. I don't want to assume that every Muslim is just another wife beating monster. America has it's share, and a justice system to tame them. And to anyone who abuses others, may you learn to control yourself, before the abuse is turned upon you ten times over.

Muslims also believe that outright abuse is considered wrong because women are the weaker gender and they should be protected. It's not the 1800s anymore, they've tightened up their laws a lot, just as we have. In America, it's very real and the main fatal victims of abuse are children less than one years old. The problem is that there's a blurred line between abuse and parenting, so believe me when I say that our justice system is very corrupt. Sometimes those who abuse others aren't aware of it (there is mental, emotional, psychical, and sexual abuse). "Figures available for 2001 from the National Child Abuse and Neglect Data System (NCANDS, 2003), which collects data from states on incidents of child maltreatment, indicate that in 2001 alone approximately 903,000 children were confirmed victims of maltreatment and an estimated 1,321 children died as a result of abuse and/or neglect." That's from the americanhumane.org site. That was in 2001 though, it's slowly gotten worse over the years sadly (check out www.childhelp.org/pages/statis….

If you want a religious (aka christian) example of abuse that's recent, look up the book "To Train Up A Child". It's a religious parenting manual that basically tells you to abuse your children, but said in a very justifying/pleasant position. It's accounted for three deaths so far, and has sparked a lot of rage that Amazon is selling this. There was a personal review by a mother (can't find it anymore sorry) who talked about how she had followed this book to get the perfect, non-possessed, god-fearing, obedient child. She later learned her mistakes and was horrified. Read the reviews, it's honestly appalling. Sorry I couldn't do what you wanted but I just want to let you know that it's very, very bad in America. Just because we don't acknowledge it doesn't mean it's not as bad.

Two whole paragraphs? It's more than I had expected, so thank you very much. To ask for a list of religions that promote abuse is asking a lot, since even christians sin.

That has nothing to do with religion, because all religion are about Piece but the Problem is the Person who did them Terribly things.

I apologise for being unclear. I meant any religions that are exploited for such actions. Even the christian Holy Bible has been misread. A woman must be submissive to her husband, and her husband shall love and cherish her as he would himself. If anyone in a relationship is abusive, what are they going to do when it's turned on them?

I think religion in general is misread from Both sides. I Believe the Problem Lies on the Parents and there old Traditions. If it was turned on them it would be amazing but it wouldn't help the Case, we be just going around Circles.

It is quite sobering to see such a clear record of the inhumanity we are all capable of - it is one thing to read a written account of a woman having her nose cut off for attempting to leave a painful, unhealthy situation, and quite another to have the results of such an act displayed as they are here.

Gosh, I can't remember the middle girl for the life of me, but I remember reading her story out of the Time magazine, and you have just so jaw-droppingly captured her beauty, even after such a horrible happening.

I thought it was some girl from Afghanistan or somewhere else in the middle east area who got her nose cut off as punishment. I know, I can't even remember the name either.

She's known as Bibi Aisha. She was married off into a Taliban family by her father, to solve a feud between the families about a death. After being mistreated she tried to run away, was caught, and then had her nose and ears cut off by her father-in-law and husband's brothers. She was left to bleed to death, and was found by an American aid worker, and was treated and taken to America. She has since had a cosmetic nose and ears created for her, and works to speak out against the mistreatment of Afghan women. A very brave young lady.

I'm not going to sat the deformations make the girls look pretty. That's just what it is, we live in a society where things such as this aren't deemed "pretty". I'm not going to say they look "cool" because the aren't cool to have.
I will say, however, they give the picture depth. They show underlying beauty and leave it up to you what happened. Since the artist is really the only one who knows the story behind this beautiful piece, we can't say what it is.
But even so, I'm saying it's amazing.
Great work :)

He's probably referring to the story of the center girl depicted in the artwork.
They're more disfigurations than deformities, since they were inflicted on them.

What a beautiful and touching painting. There is beauty in every woman despite what someone has done to them or what happened during their development. These women have a story and a face and the fact that you spent the time to show everyone is a blessing for us to see.
